Bill Wormstedt’s Shots in the Dark adds a further anonymous account, which is notable for being the only that refers to Chief Officer Wilde by name. It was published in the News of the World, April 21, 1912:

“Chief Officer Wilde stood on the bridge after the collision. He raised his arm and shot himself. He dropped where he stood.”

Since William Murdoch was Chief Officer of Titanic before Henry Wilde and many still called Murdoch “Chief Officer” after the disaster, Bill Wormstedt comments that although mentioning Wilde by name, “it could also be referring to Murdoch”. (12.)
